چکیده

Studies that compare modelled reflectances with satellite-measured reflectances for different wavelengths and view angles are still rare. We compared model outputs from three different canopy reflectance models (SLC, FRT and INFORM) with satellite measured reflectances (Chris/PROBA). Comparison of the simulated directional reflectances reveals general agreement but also some differences among the models. In general, the radiative transfer models produce signatures comparable to measured ones for spruce and beech forest of different age and canopy structure. * Corresponding author: [email protected]

Retrieving Canopy Structure from Hyperspectral Multi- Angular Satellite Data

The angular dependence of satellite-measured canopy reflectance has been shown to contain information on the structure of vegetated surfaces. The aim of the research was to explore the angular variability of spectral indices and to compare the suitability of angular indices and traditional vegetation indices for retrieval of forest structural attributes using Chris/PROBA data. With spruce the l...

Analyses of Hyperspectral and Directional Chris Data for Agricultural Monitoring Using a Canopy Reflectance Model

Agricultural monitoring using a canopy reflectance model through analyses of hyperspectral and directional CHRIS data is targeted. CHRIS data of the Upper Rhine Valley test-site (Germany) were destriped and geometrically corrected, so that the 5 angular observations can be compared. An atmospherical correction was performed that uses the radiative transfer model MODTRAN 4. An extended version o...

CHLOROPHYLL a+b CONTENT ESTIMATION THROUGH TURBID-MEDIUM AND MONTE-CARLO RT MODEL INVERSION FOR FOREST CANOPIES USING HYPERSPECTRAL DATA

Predictions of chlorophyll content (chla+b) or any other canopy biophysical parameter from airborne or satellite canopy reflectance are generally carried out through four different methodologies: i) directly studying the statistical relationships between ground-measured biochemical data and canopy-measured reflectance (Johnson et al., 1994; Matson et al., 1994); ii) applying the leaf-level rela...

Angular Unmixing of Photosynthetic and Non-photosynthetic Vegetation within a Coniferous Forest Using Chris-proba

Estimating forest variables, such as photosynthetic light use efficiency, from satellite reflectance data requires understanding the contribution of photosynthetic vegetation (PV) and nonphotosynthetic vegetation (NPV). The fractions of PV and NPV present in vegetation reflectance data are typically controlled by the canopy structure and the respective viewing angle. The persistent but highly v...
